Restaurateur Steve Ridealgh began his hospitality career the day after he left school in 1975. Starting out at Pool Court Restaurant when it was still based in Pool-in-Wharfedale, Steve worked his way up through the ranks to become General Manager when the restaurant moved in with Brasserie 44 on the The Calls in 1994. When Pool Court (Leeds' only Michelin Starred restaurant at that time) closed at the end of 2005 Steve and Carol bought Brasserie 44 and continue to run it to this day. A real family business with Carol, the Patisserie Chef, and son David is Head Waiter.
There are also a few members of staff who are almost family:
Shirley Hart - joined in 1994 and looks after reservations and all the back office administration.
Steve Adkins - Restaurant Manager who joined in 2001
Dave Robson - was here as Larder Chef during our 'Pool Court' years and returned as Head Chef in 2011
